Joe Robinson

Joe Robinson, Director of North Brevard Charities, spoke to the Sunrise Rotary Club on August 28. When Joe started in 1997, the group was struggling to provide for the needy in our community. Today, it is a thriving organization with transitional and temporary housing as well as programs assisting people from the young to the elderly with various emergencies.

Several years ago, North Brevard Charities received a donation in the form of a house from the Carter family. The home was built in 1915 and served, at various times, as the first free public library in Titusville and later as a birthing center. About a year ago, Joe Robertson, Director of North Brevard Charities, approached several of the members of the Titusville Sunrise Rotary Club suggesting that the house would be a good home for a branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida. The members, who were already working on fundraising for a Boys and Girls Club, eagerly agreed. Currently, the two organizations are working to hammer out an agreement. Thanks to Parrish Medical Center, Parrish Foundation and Lowe’s, renovation on the structure is set to begin in October, under the direction of Donn Mount. Any group that would like to participate is welcome. Please call Diane Patterson at 321-383-3026, ext. 106
