Jennifer Kriete, Director, Eastern Florida State College Foundation shared remarks about the Foundation’s purpose and accomplishments. The EFSC Foundation’s vision is to maximize donor resources to build futures, transform lives, and promote academic excellence. Last year, the Foundation awarded nearly $700,000 to 40% more students.
The Eastern Florida State College Foundation was established in 1971 and serves at the pleasure of the President and the College Board of Trustees. As a direct support organization for the college and 501c3, donors contribute funds to support student scholarships, college programming and other college initiatives.
In 2017-2018 generous donations enabled the Foundation to support 40% more students than last year with scholarships. Seven hundred and sixty six (766) students were able to continue their educational dream. What you may not know, is that 1,557 students applied for scholarships that we could not award due to lack of funding. This year, we need to raise nearly $110,000 to support our students who are the first in their family to attend college and our Florida Blue nursing scholarship. We do this through our events and annual appeal Titan Fund Appeal.
Carina, a scholarship recipient stated, “If I had not received a scholarship, I would have not been able to continue my education.” Carina graduated with high honors, will pursue a degree in Biological and Medical Sciences at UCF with the dream of attending Medical School. A donation may be the difference of someone completing their education or dropping out of school.
If you live in Brevard County, you have been touched by an EFSC graduate; your dental hygienist, a nurse, a computer tech, an engineering tech, an EMT, a firefighter, a police officer, a cosmetologist, a sonographer, an HVAC technician, ……the list goes on. When you give to EFSC, you are giving to our community and may be educating the next entrepreneur, firefighter, nurse, etc. With support from private donors, clubs, businesses and corporations, we can keep our community educated, active, and growing. Please consider a gift of or any amount to support our students.
