Community Water Safety Day

The Titusville Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting Bowl-A-Thon IV at River Lanes Family Entertainment Center on Highway 50 in Titusville on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 2:00 – 4:30PM. We are promoting awareness of water safety in helping to achieve the goal to eliminate drowning, the #1 cause of death for 1 to 4-year-old children. Organizations joining us in this endeavor are North Brevard Rotary, Coquina Elementary, and Swim Safe Forever. Mark your calendars and come out and bowl with us.

This year, we are excited to report that Coquina Elementary School Students from kindergarten and first grade, along with their families, will be participating as invited guests of Titusville Sunrise Rotary and will be bowling and sharing time with their family and friends.

Josh-The-Baby-Otter will be making a guest appearance and will be providing Josh-The-Baby-Otter books to each student and their siblings. This is a great time for our Club to share this very important topic to children who may not know how to swim and live in Florida where there is daily opportunity to encounter water impoundments and pools.

Part of identifying children who could benefit from this opportunity, Coquina Elementary Assistant Principal Jami Minor developed a survey seeking information regarding basic swimming abilities and skills and locations of bodies of water nearby their homes and how we can best serve our youth.

Elementary School Staff Lunch

Members of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Titusville decided to give the staff of the Coquina Elementary School a friendly “welcome back” for the new school year. Four (4) of our members arrived at the school early on Friday, August 3rd, and assembled more than eighty-five (85) brownbag lunches. Freshly toasted bread, slices of turkey or ham with cheese, served as the base. Rounding out the lunches were a variety bags of chips, small chocolate treats and a nut/protein bar. An assortment of soft drinks and bottled water rounded out the meal to wash it all down. A fantastic day for all.
