Wayne Ivey

Sheriff Wayne Ivey emphasized how the lack of communications between law enforcement agencies, prior to the 9/11 attack, provided terrorists an atmosphere where they had an opportunity to succeed. After the coordinated attacks on 9/11, the emphasis focused on “if you see something, say something”…report the information or concerns to law enforcement agencies. Following up on the reasons 9/11 was so successful, it was discovered there was a lot of information individual citizens had about the terrorists but the information was not communicated to law enforcement and law enforcement groups were not speaking among themselves…consequently patterns that were developing were not clearly identified. Sheriff Ivey’s message to our Club was one that he recently shared with Congress. “We need to strengthen our borders and provide immigrants that come to our Country legally a clear path to citizenship, rather than illegal immigrants circumventing and negotiating a path to citizenship.”
