BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
This year our Titusville Sunrise Rotary club donated $500 to the River Lanes Bowling Alley for their annual Back to School Bash. Here is a summary from them.
We had a great turnout this year again with over 1,500 people on our campus. With all the help and support we received from the community, we were able to hand out 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade. We raised over $13,000 dollars from over 30 Brevard businesses and had several that donated supplies. We had over 40 volunteers helping with the event doing various activities throughout the day. The turnout of volunteers, live entertainment, vendors, and community outreach programs came together quite nicely to provide the kids of North Brevard with an exciting day.
The event received a lot of attention with online news sources this year. We were featured on the Brevard Area Events page, the Titusville Chamber of Commerce page, and on Visit the Space Coast’s community calendar. Radio stations including Z88.3 advertised the event on their community calendar, and area churches as well as other nonprofit organizations held collection drives for supplies. We were also featured in the Hometown News. The added attention helped spotlight the need in our community, as well as showcase the businesses and individuals that care about the livelihood of those living in this area.
As this event continues to grow in the coming years, we hope you will continue to partner with us. Again, we greatly appreciate your support and participation in the 2019 Back to School Bash and we look forward to working with you again in the future.

Community ‘Stop Gap’ Dinner
“The Mission of the Community ‘Stop-Gap’ Dinners is to fill the gap and provide emergency assistance to those individuals and families who may not otherwise qualify for assistance through other agencies. We help them to overcome barriers that may jeopardize their livelihood.
The ‘Stop-Gap’ meal enables us to feed members within the community that may only qualify for emergency food once every ninety (90) days.” Titusville Sunrise Rotary ‘Stop-Gap’ dinner was held on August 23 at the Harriet T. Moore Community Center.
Upcoming 2018 dinners will be held on October 11 and December 6. About 165 meals were served or delivered at this dinner. Babs and John have been providing the leadership, planning and service for these meals for more than two years.
Elementary School Staff Lunch
Members of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Titusville decided to give the staff of the Coquina Elementary School a friendly “welcome back” for the new school year. Four (4) of our members arrived at the school early on Friday, August 3rd, and assembled more than eighty-five (85) brownbag lunches. Freshly toasted bread, slices of turkey or ham with cheese, served as the base. Rounding out the lunches were a variety bags of chips, small chocolate treats and a nut/protein bar. An assortment of soft drinks and bottled water rounded out the meal to wash it all down. A fantastic day for all.
